Tapestry Project
Tapestry is a long term photography project documenting the ever changing landscape of the Mojave Desert and the reduction of the Joshua tree woodlands in and around the city of Hesperia, California. Named after the "master planned community" that is set for construction within the city limits, Tapestry will encompass 9,366 acres of land with the planned construction of 15,663 residential units; not to mention, schools, businesses, and other buildings. Due to California's population growth and the need for more housing, the Mojave desert is one of the most sought after areas for development of new communities. Because of such demand, the endemic landscape is being reduced and replaced, including the protected Joshua tree.
