While the Stars Look Down
While the Stars Look Down photographically captures the otherworldly essence of the desert landscape at night, emphasizing the unique qualities of the Mojave Desert and showcasing the Joshua tree in a mysterious manner through the interplay of color, time, and light.
With over 8 years of documenting the Western Joshua tree and artistically contributing to the passage of the Western Joshua Tree Conservation Act, protective legislature which California recently passed for the endemic species, I have turned my attention to Joshua tree forests that exist on the fringes of the Mojave Desert in Nevada, Utah, and Arizona, where the battle for survival amid the harshness of climate change and human encroachment is ever present.
