‚ÄčTransplanted Oasis

When Southern California was the capital of the citrus industry and citrus groves spanned the countryside for miles, palm trees were planted on the edge of the groves as beacons, helping workers find their way out to the main road. Probably the most quintessential reference to Southern California, the palm tree offers the illusion of paradise; a piece of a dream, a dream that is different for everyone.

Interestingly enough, of the multiple palm tree species in Southern California, only one is native to our beautiful state, the California fan palm. The rest, like  the many peoples that make up our state's population, are transplants to a region where sunshine is abundant and uniqueness is celebrated.
